01. Tell us what you need
Start with the property postcode, whether the job is domestic or commercial, and a short description of the fence. An approximate length or number of damaged panels is useful. You do not need final measurements or a product name to begin.
Mention access restrictions, shared boundaries and your preferred timing. If a loose section presents an immediate concern, describe it when you call so the situation and availability can be discussed.
02. Assess the site and options
A site survey can establish the condition of panels and posts, the ground levels and the route for bringing in materials. Explain known buried services or nearby construction. The survey should help define the physical work rather than leave important assumptions unresolved.
Discuss the appearance and privacy you want, together with any components you hope to retain. Where repairs are possible, compare them with replacement using the actual condition of the fence.
03. Review the quotation
Check the material specification, quantities, preparation, installation and exclusions. Confirm whether old fencing removal, waste disposal and reinstatement are included. Ask how unexpected conditions and any changes to scope will be agreed.

04. Arrange the work
Agree access, timing and the person available at the property. Arrange any necessary neighbour permission and move items from the agreed working area. Discuss pets, gates and routes that must remain usable.

05. Review and look after the fence
Check the completed work against the agreed scope and raise questions promptly. Ask about the care appropriate to the materials and retain the quotation and guarantee information. Existing sections left in place still need their own ongoing maintenance.
